...A Weekend DIY Project

Just thought I'd share the project I've been working on recently! I wanted new curtains for my bedroom. The window is so large, and the ceilings are so high, I didn't want anything with a loud pattern because the room would just scream "CURTAINS!!" So I bought plain, tan colored tab-top curtains and decided to have a little fun.

I headed down south to the artsy neighborhood Pilsen and discovered the Textile Discount Outlet! It's now one of my favorite places to go and just ponder. Right off the Damen 50 bus route in Pilsen, there are so many square feet of this 3-floor warehouse covered in fabric, decorative trims, buttons and notions, I could spend all day there!

Here are some photos. I bought fringe, beaded trim, and some decorative trim to cover all the rough edges. I simply pinned them to the curtains and began to sew. By hand. I would love to invest in a machine someday, but for now, I just don't sew enough large projects to need one. But I'm sure this would have gone by SO much more quickly if I had one!

I sewed the fringe and beaded trim first, then I sewed the decorative trim on top of it.
