...If You Can Dish It, You Should Take It!

Answer me this.

Why is it that when I say, "I'm in the mood to eat [insert vegetarian food here]", people sometimes react by saying, "Gross I cant believe you eat that crap," but then someone else says to me, "I'm in the mood to eat [insert meat here]" if I were to give them the same reaction they gave me, then why would I suddenly be labeled as a preachy vegetarian who looks down upon people for eating meat? (And if you know me you know I don't feel that way.)

If its ok for people to openly express disgust and turn their nose up at what I eat, why am I not allowed to do the same to them? If you can dish it, you better be able to take it!

  1. Think it has a lot to do with the fact that vegetarians are still a minority. Of course meat eaters are allowed to criticize, they already have everyone else on their side!

  2. Because how dare you openly admit a desire to eat healthy, sometimes unusual, foods?! What kind of freak desires good, healthy food? Don't you know you are supposed to crave foods full of grease to clog those arteries up?! lol =)

  3. YES! This makes me CRAZY!

I had a relative (who shall remain nameless) turn up his nose at the idea of egg replacer in baked goods (which, I might add, he devours whenever I make vegan baked goods for him) and I wanted to say: "You don't want to eat potato starch but you will eat a chicken's PERIOD??"

I swear, I try not to even bring it up, but then it gets brought up and I get insulted and mocked.

    MAJOR pet peeve!
